DEFENSIVE HOCKEY RULES

As the regular season nears an end and the league standings are closer than  a month ago, the dreaded “trap” and European style hockey dominated action in this weeks action.

The red-eye saw Godin’s A & B Sports continue their drive to the top as they defeated McGuire’s Karson Kartage 3-1. Rookie Mike Tierney led the way with two goals and an assist with veteran Dick Fleming adding a singleton.  Bruce Stalkie spoiled Lanthier’s fine performance in nets, with  the lone KK goal. Rumour has it that Jeff McGuire will be asking the Sens equipment manager if he has a spare helmet.

Are Bradley and Associates starting to feel the pressure of having everyone chase them all year? The bookkeepers dropped yet another game coming out on the losing end to Snelgrove, 2-1. Hot hand, Wayne Cameron, scored both goals and is admitting that he is having more than a banner year. Pat Dennis scored an early period goal but the bus drivers played great defensive hockey without their captain who is on a “holiday” for two weeks.

The mid-morning special saw the cellar dwellers, Goulbourn Sanitation snap out of long losing streak by destroying Levesque’s Chiropratic team, 5-1. Captain Bryson got  production from every line as five different players contributed goals. Scoring for the garbagemen were Jeff  Harris ( or Marc Lamarche), Dave Graham , Bert Zeyl,Steward Curry and number 33. Scoring for the back doctors was Dave Petrie. Bryson now feels that his team is on the right track and hopes to “knock off” any complacent team they face in the playoffs.

The only close and high scoring game saw Karters Korner edge K.S.C. 4-3. It was a penalty filled match that saw Carl Dube, Rick Turner, Mike Dube and #13 score for the go-karters. Keeping the game close with goals were, Terry “backhand” Schaeffer, Rob Hawkins and Larry Sillicker. With the win, KK moves into sole possession of second place and has the opportunity to take over the league lead.

The luncheon affair saw second place Foley Signs go down to defeat and the standings , losing to Business Allies, 5-1. Veteran Bruce Matheson tallied a pair with Brian Kronick, Doug Roy and Garth Rogers finishing up the scoring. Mike Foley spoiled Burnie’s shutout bid with the lone Foley goal, late in the game.

DID YOU KNOW: The only creditor to show up for its money at the Senator’s
bankruptcy hearing was the Ontario Government. Makes you
  wonder.
