The final night of the 2001-2002 MOTH Regular Season went like this: With a win against the Flyers, the Kings could have won the league title outright ... but the Flyers battled them to a 3-3 draw. The Leafs could have grabbed a share of that first place lead -- to be further broken down into the next level of tie-breakers -- as both the Leafs and Kings have 8 wins each. This point was made moot however, with the Yorkton Capitals playing perhaps their best game of the season, raking the Leafs 7-1. It was left until the final game of the MOTH regular season -- the 11 p.m. tilt between Newton & Co. and the Hawks -- to sort things out. Newton played an outmanned Hawks squad (one spare) and won easily, 7-1. Congratulations to Phil Byrne and his team. See ya in the playoffs. |
