The first round of the schedule has come to a conclusion with definite leaders and followers being established. Some surprises have been Bradley and Associates not losing any games, Foley Signs becoming the new goon team and last year’s finalists, A & B Sports mired in last place. The red –eye special saw sophomore Bill Wagner get a hat trick and add an assist as the league leaders, Bradley and Associates, continued on their winning ways. Brian Blenkarn added a pair to round out the scoring with only Jim Tierney scoring for Levesque’s team. Before the game even started, Brent Bradley had dropped the gauntlet to Levesque with the price of a six pack of American beer on the line. Knowing that Lenny and the boys love their “pops”, it was disappointing that the team did not show up for this important game. The post red-eye featured the fastest skating game that veteran Gary McPharlan has ever seen as Business Allies got by Karson Kartage, 3-1. Bruce Matheson found his scoring touch with a pair and Dennis Duhaime added a single. Replying for the losers was Steve Tweddle. The mid-morning match up saw Foley Sign’s goalie, Chris Cowey record his second consecutive shut out as K.S.C. fell 2-0 on goals by Cam McDonald and Mike Foley. Foley credited his victory to a new found discipline as his charges managed to cut down on their penalty minutes. Rookie captain, Rob Hawkins is feeling the trials and tribulations of being a first year captain. A&B Sports found their scoring touch in the prelunch game by defeating Karters Korner 4-3. Action was fast and furious as the lead changed hands on several occasions. Leading the way with a pair of goals was Greg Coulas with Wayne Godin and rookie Greg O’Brien finishing off the scoring. Replying for KK, minus the league’s leading scorer, Mike Dube, was captain Bob Lackey with singles from Rick Turner and Kevin Ellard. The first round basement dwellers, have won 2 of their last three games and can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. The final game of the first round saw a tight game, filled with many penalties as Bryson’s Goulbourn Sanitation handed Snelgrove a 4-3 loss. Jeff Harris had a pair, with Stewart Currie and Dave Graham adding singles. Scoring for the second place finishers were Wayne Cameron, Tony Mather and veteran, Wayne McKnight. Captain Mike Bryson has felt a bit left out this season as he has not been mentioned in these write ups, so Mike, “How are you doing?” DID YOU KNOW: There are only two NHL players who have scored 50+ goals and had over 200 minutes in penalties in the same season.
