This week's story involved the battle of Beauty and the Beast: Bradley and Associates and A&B Sports. Both teams played well throughout the first 35 minutes even though Godin's team was still depleted with injuries and absenteeism. However, it was Jamie Temple breaking out of a scoring slump with four goals that was the difference that kept the winners atop of the league and the losers mired in last place. Both goalies, Ed Lanthier and Kevin Kahler stopped wave after wave of forwards. Dan Barrett scored both goals in a losing cause. The pre-lunch game was penalty riddled as Foley's Signs was taken apart 4-1 by Snelgrove Busline. Wayne Cameron scored a beautiful tip in goal that eventually turned out to be the winner. Other goal scorers were Paul Seguin, Peter Kenney and Bill Morin. Replying for Foleys was Don Albert. It is difficult to imagine that a hat trick by Karson Kartage's Chris Troughton, would not be the highlight of the week, but believe it. McGuire's team won its first game of the season with a convincing 6-3 rout of K.S.C. Other contributors for the winners were, Gary McPharlan ( plus 2 helpers) and Bruce Stalkie with a pair. Replying for the K.S.C. were Terry Schaeffer, Jeff Hyndman and rookie captain, Rob Hawkins. The post red eye game saw a sleepy type of a match as Business Allies squeeked by Goublourn Sanitation, 2-1. Kevin Shea and Jerome Maclean (unrestricted free agent) scored for the winners with Lloyd Stuckless spoiling Steve Burnie's shoutout. The red eye special was a closely fought battle between Kanata Chiropractic and Karters Korner with the former winning 3-2. The eventual winner was scored by Jim Tierney with Gerry Myers potting a pair. In a losing cause, Karters Korner, Kevin Ellard and Mark Brooks contributed one goal each. Heard around the locker room and lobby:
“Why am I now being shadowed”? Jerome MacLean “My wife carries my hockey equipment.” Sandi McDermid “Thanks Mike, for the trade.” Brent Bradley “Chris is not paid to pass the puck.” Jeff McGuire DID YOU KNOW: That 67% of the NHL goals are scored along the ice.
