After the pre-season tournament and five regular league games, Brent Bradley has his team firing on all cylinders as they remain undefeated with four wins and a tie. When asked about the team’s success, Brent replied that it was his personal involvement in acquiring background information on his players that would enable them to gel from the get-go. One can’t argue with success but being number one means that everyone will be gunning to knock off the leader. The Red-Eye game saw a valiant effort by Mike Bryson’s squad as they were only able to ice five skaters in a see-saw battle with rookie captain, Rob Hawkin’s team. Stewart Curry had a three point game with two and one as did KSC Terry “backhand” Schaeffer. Terry was overheard saying that his backhand shot was more deceptive today than in past games. Other scorers were Denis Newberry, Rob Hawkins, Murray McKeage and Don Fraser. Fan(s) watching the second game saw an evenly matched game with both teams lacking in bench depth. Len Levesque recorded his first ever assist this season and Razor Jodoin showed no ill effects of coming off his ankle injury. Chris Olive answered for Foley’s Signs as the team ran into penalty trouble. Observers were wondering if a new “goon” team was emerging to displace Bryson’s squad. It should be noted that league commissioner Wayne Godin issued a warning to captain Mike Foley that more control of his players must be evident. The mid-morning match saw pointless A&B Sports keep their perfect record in tact. But it should be noted that captain Wayne Godin has been without 3rd round pick Bevan Graham all year who will not be able to play due to an upcoming shoulder operation. Dan Barrett and Dick Fleming scored and Godin maintained his point a game clip with an assist and is challenging the league leaders in scoring. Business Allies recorded their first victory behind goals by Jerome Maclean, Dennis Duhaime and Kevin Shea and #13. The pre- lunch game saw Snelgrove’s Peter Capello score two goals with singles going to Keith Schaeffer and Bill Morin. Captain Randy Clemo credits his team’s victory to an early curfew on Saturday night. Replying for Karson Kartage, who is also looking for its first victory, was Chris Troughton and Gary Croucher:both assisted on each other’s goals. The brunch game saw Bradley and Associates maintain their position atop of the league with a well played 3-2 victory over Bob Lackey’s Karters Korner team. Scoring for the winners were Ross Farmer, Jamie Temple , (one and one) and Mark Smith, (one and one). Eric Lake and Pierre Bedard scored for the losers and after the game, captain Lackey was left wondering if his players had not already had their turkey meal. |
