It was a time to separate the pretenders from the contenders and it never really happened. Once again action demonstrated that the regular means absolutely nothing as some contenders fell by the wayside. Early morning action saw Bradleys and KSC fight to a 2-2 draw with someone #44 scoring and Steve Brown for Brent’s team while Larry Sillicker and Jerry Jones scored for Hawkin’s team. Foley Signs continued their run to the cup with a narrow 2-1 victory over the bus drivers as the losers packed their golf clubs in spite of theirregular season second place finish. Scoring for the winners were Gilles Desjardins and Keith “white shoes” James. The bus drivers let loose with a barrage of clichés afterwards such as: Now we know how the Sens feel, the regular season means nothing, we cannot win by scoring only three goals, needed to add more grit prior to the trade deadline and there could be a salary dump. Karters Korner and Karson Kartage fought to a 4-4 draw to keep the run for top spots interesting. Scoring for the go-karters were Mike Ball, Eric Lake, Kevin Ellard and Mike Dube while Bruce Stalkie, Andy Mutch, Chris Troughton and the older veteran, Gary Croucher scoring a short handed goal to tie the game. Business Allies reminded Bryson’s Goulbourn Sanitation team where they had finished in the regular season by hanging on to defeat them 5-4. Scoring the Allies goals were Dennis Duhaime, Garth Rogers, Evan Cameron, Bruce Matheson and Doug Roy. Keeping the game close for the garbage men were Laurent Benoit, rookie Bert Zeyl with a pair and Jeff Harris. The last game saw a return to action of A & B Sports captain, Godin who took a rehab visit to Mexico as he felt too cold to play hockey but it all went for nought. They were eliminated from advancing losing to a pesky Chiropractor team as rookie Brad Powe notched a pair and Jim Tierney scored the clincher. Scoring early for A&B was Greg Coulas.
