DC MOOSE vs. RMT Chiefs April 29th, 2007
Sunday's game was a tight checking affair with the Chiefs coming out on top 7-2. The addition of Mike Jones and Brian Hanwell to the roster added some stability, but didnt get us over the hump. Rick Weldon had a great game in nets seeing more rubber come at him than his childhood hero Roberto Luongo used to see in Florida. Unfortunately the Chiefs managed to bang in some rebounds and loose pucks in the later stages of the game putting a damper on what was a good day between the pipes for Rick. More unfortunate was the loss suffered by Weldon at the poker tables of the Walker Hill casino(booze may have been a factor).
Up front good things were seen from Hanwell who potted the first goal of the game and gave us some jump on the forecheck. Lawrence Willoughby(get a shorter name please) knocked in the second goal of the game while jumping in to the center position for the first time in his career. The score of the game definitely doesn't reflect the effort of the team and we'll just have to dig deeper to make sure we end up on the winning side of things next time. That said we did at least challenge there goalie Claude...ok ill just call him Claude for now and he should take alot of credit in the Chiefs victory as I know some of us are still having nightmares from being denied by him(Caleb's one timer). Ryan, Waylon, Ken and Mike had solid games for us on the back end. Waylon and Ken managed to jump up and add some pressure for us when needed.
Anyway hopefully a more positive result for us next game and I know everyone had a good time down in Seoul. Thanks to everyone who showed up and put in a good effort. Next game is against Daegu on May 12th in Daejeon. Hopefully well get exactly 7 from each city for the next game. I know some guys were unavailable due to work or whatever and with three lines maybe well have a little more energy in the third period.
Go Sens Go!! ( actually can't understand why anyone would cheer for the leafs)
