WEBHL Notes: Ray Weatherbee of the Herd is making the scoring race interesting as he is keeping pace with a number of the CMC Blues….The Herd are looking strong this year, but penalties may be their undoing (Rebels and Herd have most PIM in the league)…Young Guns and Rebels have yet to reach the win column….Young Guns have potential, but need a few more games to get it going…Invaders have lengthened their bench with positive results…Blues are rolling along…Best game of the year so far was the Blues 3-2 win over the Herd…Most disappointing game was the Wild vs Blues game (not much of a challenge for the Blues)…Two shoot-out games so far, both involving the Rebels. They won one and despite scoring on two of three shots tied the other one with the Young Guns…Young Guns Sean Ramsey scored the most beautiful goal of all 5 shoot-out goals so far this year (same move he used on a break-away in an earlier game)…Goalie Dan Moyer has looked impressive in the net for the Herd so far. Have they finally resolved that problem area?…Two players have scored 4 goals in a game this year. Invaders Andre Belanger and Blues Claude Turmelle (record is 5 held Blues Jon Melhuish)…WEBHL website a hit…All-Star game will give 2003 champions a solid game. The WEBHL All-star game looks interesting with a grouping of solid WEBHL players joining forces to play the CMC Blues. 3 20 minute periods will test the bodies on both teams (penalty shots for penalties will make for interesting viewing)…Blues hit the road for cross-over games next week…some pundits are speculating that the Herd may run the table the rest of the season with their strong team game backed by their new netminder…others think there will be an evening out in the standings with all the teams trading wins and losses…more great games to come…see you at the arena! |
