Managers' Corner - February 21, 2004

What will you do with your Saturday afternoon? For all those who have been asking how much longer the St. Laurent IP hockey season will last, we now have an answer. The last practice will be next weekend, February 28. There will be some events in the following weeks for those who want to participate, so listen up…

Wednesday, March 17 -- Tim Hortons Timbits Jambouree. Initiation Program hockey has benefited greatly from the generous sponsorship of the Tim Hortons organization – just what would our teams be without those “Timbits” jerseys? In the middle of the March break, Tim Hortons hosts a tournament at the Corel Centre. That’s right: our kids get to play on the big ice!

Our games are from 5:20 to 5:40 PM. Manager Don will be canvassing the parents today and next week to ask which kids want to participate. And maybe a post-game dinner out in Kanata with all parents and kids?

Sunday, March 21 – IP Fun Day. During the March Break, St. Laurent Minor Hockey Association will host a hockey tournament for teams from across the City and Eastern Ontario. On the final Sunday, we will field two teams and host six other IP teams. The fun begins at 7:30 AM and lasts until noon.

Volunteers needed… We need parents to volunteer for various functions during our fun day – everything from timekeepers to helping deliver drinks to the kids, etc. See Manager Don if you can help.

Year-end banquet. Sometime after the close of the season – probably in April – we will have our year-end banquet at the Don Gamble Complex. Watch for further details.
