Riders up 2-0 in first round of playoffs

The Kanata Riders jumped out of the gate early Saturday morning and came home up 2-0.

Lead by Connor Perks's 10 point first game the Riders won 17-3. Dave Young contributed 9 points and one shorthanded marker. The leagues regular season leading scorer Mike Byrne added 16 points. As for the bandits, Blue had 2 goals, Patience 2 assists and Harding had a highlight real goal. Cory McCarney stood tall between the pipes saving 95% of his shots.Erik Bitmanis of Kanata had 4 points. The game was relatively clean except for 6 pim. One minor went to Graham Blue for hooking. The other two were coincidental minors as Mike Byrne and Graham Blue both got slashing.In a much closer second game the Riders won 17-8. Mike Byrne's 10 goal, 4 assist outing along with Perk's 13 points and Young's 4 paced the Riders to victory.C. McCarney continued his Hasek style play by robbing opponents countless times. Blue had 5 goals, 2 assists. Patience had3 goals 2 assists and Greg Harding had 6 assists.
