SLUMP OVER FOR A & B SPORTS

Newly acquired call up, Mike Tierney, contributed immediately in getting Wayne Godin’s team its first victory of the season. The rookie scored two goals and along with Greg Coulas and Dan Barrett’s blistering, short handed goal, defeated Karson Kartage 4-2. Replying for the McGuire team were Gary Croucher and Bruce Stalkie.  Captain Godin reminded his team to put the victory in perspective and to keep focused on playing one game at a time.

The post red-eye game saw a shoot out between Karters Korner and the K.S.C.. Both captains must have fed their players high test coffee before the game. Amazing, call me hat trick, Mike Dube, Eric Lake and Guy D’Aloisio with a pair each made up the goal scoring.
Captain Rob Hawkins, Mark Snyder and Jerry Jones countered the offensive attack with singles. Rookie captain Hawkins was not too upset as he told this reporter that he was still experimenting with different line combinations in preparation for the playoffs.

The mid-morning match saw the league’s high flying Bradley and Associates defeat Snelgrove Buslines, 5-2. Tallying for the leaders were Steve Markhouser, Brian Blenkarn, Ross Farmer, Greg Bowes and Bill ( I can hit the net this year) Wagner.
Wayne Cameron and Tony “Beaver” Mather kept the leaders honest with a goal apiece. Randy Clemo posed the question to post-game observers, “Who is going to rise to the occasion and catch this high flying team.?”

The pre-lunch tame saw a rare shutout turned in by Family Chiropratic goalie, Al St.Pierre. Roger Lee scored what turned out to be the winner with Dave Petrie and Jim Tierney rounding out the 3-0 victory over Bryson’s Goulbourn Sanitation.

The luncheon engagement saw a closely fought match between Business Allies and Foley’s Signs with the latter coming out ahead 2-1 on a pair of markers by Chris Olive. Bruce Matheson had tied the game early in the second period but it was not enough to get the Allies a point.

Players are reminded of the breakfast at Gator Alley November 3.

DID YOU KNOW: The average length of an NHL game this year, with the new face-off rule, if 2 hours and 21 minutes.
